Annual Fund
What does the Annual Fund support?

The Brandeis University Annual Fund raises current use funds that are crucial to the lives of students and faculty. Annual Fund gifts are used in a variety of ways to meet the University's most pressing needs including scholarship assistance, campus maintenance, student housing renovation, laboratory and classroom support, and essential resources needed to maintain a world class faculty.

When should I give?

The Annual Fund accepts gifts throughout the year. Our fiscal year begins on July 1st and ends on June 30th. Leadership recognition in the Justice Brandeis Society is recorded during the fiscal year. For those alumni celebrating a Reunion this year, any gifts made between July 1st and June 30th will be included in the class totals that are announced during Reunion Weekend.

The importance of corporate matching gifts:

Corporate matching gifts are company-given contributions that match the contribution by their employees. Sometimes your gift will be matched on a one-to-one or even a two-to-one basis. Corporate matching gifts that are received in your name by the end of the fiscal year on June 30th count toward Justice Brandeis Society recognition.

What is the Justice Brandeis Society?

The Justice Brandeis Society (JBS) is Brandeis University's leadership giving society, recognizing annual donors of $1,000 or greater. Undergraduate alumni who graduated in the last ten years may join the Justice Brandeis Society as an Emerging Leader by making a gift of at least $100 multiplied by the number of years since their graduation. Members of the Justice Brandeis Society are invited to special lectures, receptions and gatherings throughout the year in various parts of the country. Recognition of JBS members is provided in the University's annual Honor Roll.

The importance of Alumni Participation:

Although Justice Brandeis Society gifts are crucial to Brandeis, ALL gifts make a difference in the lives of students. Also, U.S. News & World Report consider alumni participation to be an indicator of alumni satisfaction with their educational experience, and they use alumni participation as a metric in their annual rankings of colleges and universities. Foundations and corporations also consider alumni participation when deliberating grants. Their rationale is "if alumni do not support the college, why should we?"
