Over fifty years ago, Brandeis University was founded on the principles of social justice, non-sectarianism, academic excellence, and strong ties to the Jewish community. It has grown into a preeminent undergraduate liberal arts institution within a powerful research university.
The founding values driving our mission today are to create a better world through research, scholarship, and service. With this mission in mind, we focus on creating close connections among students, faculty, alumni, and friends.
Brandeis represents a home for students from 101 countries and close to 20 different religious backgrounds. This promotes a pluralistic and diverse experience that contributes to students' learning and prepares them to be successful and productive citizens of our global environment.
By bringing students from different cultures together, we create other profound synergies; new attitudes evolve, new knowledge is generated, and new realms of possibility arise for peace and justice in the world. We find that remarkable people connected to each other - through Brandeis - can, and indeed will, create a better world.
